Great Starter Kit Review by Rodney
Value Quality This is an affordable, informative way to start your journey into Boro. The brief instructions are enough to get you started, and the color assortment will help guide you in making your future color choices.
This small investment was all I needed to gain the confidence I needed, and become comfortable enough with boro to start enjoying my new hobby. (Posted on 6/21/10) -
Gift that keeps giving... Review by ethan
Quality Value Buy this kit for every glass worker you know!!!
If you are a flame worker or you know someone that is this kit is absolutely necessary. It doesn't matter if you have 15 years experience or 15 minutes you will learn something new in this kit, as well as all colors you work will be drastically improved.
Glass Alchemy the kit needs a better description of flame and kiln striking, Under "what is striking" I thought the description was lacking and it says continued on pg4. which has another lacking description, please include more detail with the benefits, times and temps for different family's of colors. i.e. Pink Looie took almost twice as long to kiln strike vs. Tequila Sunrise. For someone that is new to color this could be very beneficial information.
Otherwise this is an absolutely wonderful kit!!! (Posted on 4/6/10) -
was worth much more than $20 to me Review by Saint
Value Quality I was not having any luck with getting the striking colors to work for me. I had been told by some glass blowers that certain colors would "gray-out" or "yuck-up" when worked so to avoid them. I wish I could put pictures here to show a before and after of what the striking colors look like now when I work them compared to before I bought the kit. I can now get the effects you see on the troll color poster out of raked pieces with just thin lines of colors like Amazon Night and Amazon Canyon. There are also projects to help you work with the cadmium colors as well as the rest of the Glass Alchemy color catalog. If you are having any issues working the colors that are made by Glass Alchemy I highly recommend this kit. (Posted on 2/14/10)
