About Sangria, 106
Sangria is a dark opaque cadmium red borosilicate glass with rich burgundy undertones—deeper than both Red Crayon and Lipstick Red.
It’s the go-to when you want a true burgundy presence, especially for lampworking work that calls for deeper tones or smooth transitions into darker palettes.
Sangria works naturally in fades, bridging reds into Chocolate Crayon and other deep colors without harsh contrast.
Like other Crayon colors, it holds its density and color well across blown and sculptural applications, maintaining saturation even when worked thin.
Part of the Glass Alchemy Crayon collection.
Working Tip: Pre-heat in outer flame. Avoid rapid heating
Artist Description by Mike Shelbo:
This deep and earthen colored red works nice and smooth when treated properly. This color handles extremely well without encasement in solid or blown work. It likes to be worked in the halfway point (neutral zone) of your flame. Working Sangria under extreme oxygen or propane in your mix for a long period of time (over 2 hrs on one piece) can lead to overworking the color. When blown color application is thinner than 1mm color becomes diluted and milky translucent deep red.
